음... 예전에 블로그에 올렸던 동영상에서 Nigel Farage 의원에게 혼나던 아저씨인데, European Commission의 수장이었군요. 이 아저씨 왈, "EU의 경제위기를 살리기 위해서는 EU 연방이 필요하다"고 합니다. 지금보다 더욱 덩치를 키우고 힘을 강화해야 한다는 것이죠...

유로화와 EU는 공동운명체이며, 붕괴를 막으려면 거대한 EU 연방을 세워야 한다는 주장입니다...

Jose Manuel Barroso claimed the fate of the euro and European Union were intertwined and that the only answer to the growing threat of collapse was a massive Federal Europe. 

단순히 정책이 아니라, 투쟁(fight)이라는 표현까지 여러 번 써가며 강력하게 주장한 듯...

"This is a fight for the jobs and prosperity of families in all our member states."

"EU에 속한 모든 국가들의 국민들의 일자리 창출과 번영을 쟁취하기 위한 투쟁입니다."

"This is a fight for the economic and political future of Europe."

"유럽의 경제와 정치의 미래를 위한 투쟁입니다."

"This is a fight for what Europe represents in the world. This is a fight for European integration itself," he added. 

"세계 무대에서 유럽의 위상을 세우기 위한 투쟁입니다. 유럽의 통합을 위한 투쟁입니다."

헐... 이 아저씨 싸움닭인가요...

뭐, EU 국가들이 EU의 운영방식에 대해 합의는 했지만, 각 국가들이 이를 제대로 시행하지 못하고 있다는 게 문제라네요. 즉, 너무 느슨하다는 얘기겠죠. 그러니 더더욱 강화를...(예를 들어 철권통치 같은?)

He said the big problem was that new rules governing the running of the euro area had been agreed but not fully implemented by the euro-zone countries.

어찌 될지 두고봐야겠지만, Nigel Farage 형님이 EU 의회에서 또 한바탕 할지도...

Merkel: 빵야!

음... 얼마 전 독일이 영국에게 경고했다는군요... 조만간 영국은 파운드화를 포기하고 유로 체제에 합류하게 될 것이라고... 독일의 재무장관(Wolfgang Shcauble)이 한 말인데, 지금 영국 경제 돌아가는 꼴을 보니 파운드화 곧 망할 것 같고, 그러니 빨리 EU로 들어오라는 얘기입니다...

Germany last night declared that Britain would be forced to scrap the pound and join the euro – as David Cameron returned home empty-handed from crisis talks in Berlin.

In a highly-provocative intervention, German finance minister Wolfgang Schauble suggested the UK’s struggling economy meant the pound was doomed, and urged the Prime Minister to back Europe’s ailing single currency.

Merkel: 에... 영국 경제가 지금 돌아가는 걸로 봐서는...

Cameron: ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

물론 영국 측도 가만히 있지 않았습니다. 영국 토리 당의 Phillip Davies 의원의 얘기를 들어보시죠:

"Schauble 장관은 이제 꿈나라에서 현실로 돌아오고, 경제위기 해결하는 일에 집중이나 할 것..."

"우리더러 이래라 저래라 할 것이 아니라 독일 국민들이 원하는게 무엇인지 먼저 들어보는 것이 올바르지 않겠나? 독일 국민들의 입장에서는 그리스와 이태리 구제해주느라 허리가 휘기 보다는 도이치 마르크 체제로 복귀하는 것을 반길 듯..."

Tory MP Philip Davies suggested Mr Schauble was ‘living in cloud cuckoo land’ and should concentrate on resolving the crisis.

He added: ‘Rather than telling us what to do he should be listening to what people in Germany want – I’m pretty sure they would rather have the Deutschmark back than bail out Greece and Italy.’ 

ㅋㅋㅋ 제대로 한 방 날렸네요...

하지만 유로존 재무장관들의 모임인 Euro Group의 수장, Jean-Claude Juncker씨가 또 제동을 걸었습니다: "EU에 속한 국가의 평균 부채보다 두 배나 많은 부채를 떠안고 있는 영국이 경제위기 운운할 때는 아니다. 우리보다 더 허덕이고 있는 나라가 훈수를 두다니... 부르르..."

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ (음, 웃으면 안되는데...)

But Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the powerful Euro Group of eurozone finance ministers, said Britain was in no position to comment on the crisis as its deficit was twice the European average.

He said he was ‘not in favour of being dictated to by countries that are doing worse than us’.
